Sound of Freedom is a blockbuster hit. On YouTube it is described this way: "Sound of Freedom, based on the incredible true story, shines a light on even the darkest of places. After rescuing a young boy from ruthless child traffickers, a federal agent learns the boy’s sister is still captive and decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. With time running out, he quits his job and journeys deep into the Colombian jungle, putting his life on the line to free her from a fate worse

than death." The movie is that and so much more. It has opened eyes across America--and perhaps even across the world--of the atrocities of human trafficking . And the astounding numbers of people being trafficked. And how much of it takes place in the United States.
CBN reported on August 4, 2023, "The "Sound of Freedom" has passed $163 million in box office ticket sales, outgrossing big-budget competitors and becoming the surprise hit of the summer. . . . For anti-trafficking advocates who have sought for decades to shine a spotlight on the exploitation of sex trafficking victims, the movie has provided welcomed awareness."

Free Bird Initiative (FBI). This organization helps human trafficking survivors and those at risk on the way to freedom. They help survivors know they are seen and loved. I'm happy to say that my granddaughter, Shannon Sloan, is the founder and director of the ministry, Long ago God put a deep love for trafficking survivors in Shannon's heart. She has experience working with survivors from an early age until now in the Philippines, Nepal, and the United States. Free Bird Initiative serves two communities with one mission. In Metro Detroit the ministry works with multiple agencies serving survivors to aid their clients in taking the next steps, as well as serving those at risk in a direct capacity. Free Bird Initiative also partners with Our Daughters International in Nepal to directly support survivors in job training and skill development as they journey toward healing. Shannon invites you to be a part of the journey to freedom for these survivors by becoming a monthly financial partner. Your giving will help survivors and those at risk with expenses related to childcare, health, job training, English language
learning, and transportation. And if you'd like to find out how you can volunteer your time, email Shannon at hello@freebirdinitiative.org. |

They also send money each month to a safe house in Nepal, where they have worked with other young women. Their promise: "When you buy from Ring True, you are supporting the livelihood of young human trafficking survivors. These brave young women are able to live and heal in a safe, peaceful community through established partnerships with local and worldwide non profits. Hand making and assembling our products provides them with a sustainable income while they receive therapy and training in life skills for their futures. With your support, our business is committed to continue training and offering careers to at risk women and survivors." Your support can make a difference! Follow them on Instagram!
