Health & Fitness: a Biblical Perspective

God created our amazing bodies and wants us to care for them. Find some helpful hints on how to do just that!

Here's to Health!
Health and fitness is a topic of great interest to many people. A myriad of health and fitness books and websites are available, but on this page you will find links to sites and books approaching the topic from a Christian perspective. This is not an endorsement of any of them. If you are thinking about losing weight, eating more nutritionally, or generally becoming more healthy and fit, I encourage you to approach the process wisely.

Do your research . . . talk to your doctor before embarking on a new diet or exercise program . . . and above all, ask God for his guidance. He created our amazing bodies and wants us to care for them. Through the links below, find some helpful hints on how to do just that!

Biblical Prescriptions for Life. "This is a movement leading towards discovery of God's desire for our well being physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Join us in experiencing real physiologic benefits of applying Biblical Prescriptions from God's word in our lives today."  James Marcum, M.D> offers a seven-week life-transforming study that reveals God's plan for healing and lifelong, whole-life wellness through physical and spiritual truths from the Bible and supported by science. (BTW when I lived in Tennessee, he was my heart doctor!)

First Place 4 Health. "Come to lose weight. Gain freedom in healthy living with a restored heart, renewed mind, sold-out soul and a transformed body. . . . We find balance in all four areas when we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33). When we look at all the ways God wants us to fully love Him—connect with Him and serve Him—we see how everything fits into four areas—heart, soul, mind, and body (strength). No matter how lopsided, or empty, you look right now, do not despair. You will find help to address ALL areas of your life, bringing whole person wellness."
