Often in my morning prayer time I "put on" the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). But when I would reach my feet ("And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace") the meaning seemed a little fuzzy. After all these years, this week it clicked. The New Living Translation says "For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared."
We have a choice. We can worry . . . or we can "wear" His peace by trusting in Him. We can try to fight the enemy on our own . . . or we can allow God to protect us with His armor--including His peace.
Peace is part of God's armor that can protect us from fear, condemnation, worry, depression, anxiety . . . In every situation, choose God's peace by trusting Him wholly, completely, without reservation.
What are you wearing today?
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
